A conveyor system is like a racecar. It can go the distance, but eventually, it will need a tune-up. You don’t need a complement scheme to protect a conveyor roller. If you follow a few easy steps, you’ll have what it takes to get in gear.
To protect a conveyor, maintenance must be a top priority. Proper maintenance starts with the basics. First, check your equipment for any signs of wear. Then, inspect the drive screws; if they are rusty, it’s time to apply a lubricate.
In addition to the drive screws, the roller bearings will also need to be lubricated. This is a job for the user, so keep this in mind. Before each production run, each user must test the bearings as they could need more lubricate.
A conveyor will also need to be cleaned. If you neglect it, the rollers will not function at the maximum capacity. To clean a conveyor, grab a rag and wipe all debris off the unit. Target every nook and cranny. If you miss a spot, the debris could create a blockage.
For challenging jobs, nothing beats a good scrub. You can remove dirt and grime effortlessly with a soft rag, warm water, and detergent.
To protect a conveyor system, check the unit following every job for performance issues. The roller should be flexible, and base should be level, and the belt should be in optimum condition.
